This museum is situated at Mc Donald Hill in the town centre. It is an ethnological museum and hence the collection of the museum comprises mainly of ethnological collections. A collection of photograph, arms and weapons, musical instrument, coins, utensils, paintings, historical relics, stone sculpture, ancient costumes and traditional equipments are on fid play in the museum. The museum also has a separate gallery dedicated to the tribes of Mizoram.
It is the most important shopping centre of Aizawl in Dawrpui Veng locality. Here the people can be seen in their traditional costumes selling products from farms as well as imports from China brought through Myanmar border area. Luangmual Handicrafts Centre It is a well-renowned centre specializing in handicrafts in the region. 7 Kms away from Aizawl it takes half an hour to reach by car. The 'Khumbeu' ceremonial bamboo hat is made here using waterproof 'hnahthial' leaves
Basketry is a popular craft among the tribes in Mizoram. These tribal people are experts in making beautiful baskets out of the soft fibres of cane. Baskets here come in various designs, with lids and without lids and in various shapes. They are made for serving various purposes like cage, container, basket etc.
The artists are highly skilled in transforming simple raw materials into attractive items. The craftsmen of this area are expert in their traditional art of weaving. Like in other states of the hilly north-east, Mizoram also has this raw material in plenty and so the inhabitants of this place are into it for ages. Mizos, the inhabitants of Mizoram make different use of this bamboos. In furniture they make everything from sofas to chairs to tables and mooras etc.
