Katra Town, Lying In The Foot Of Trikuta Mountains Serves As The Base Camp For Visiting The Famous Shrine Of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Which Is Approachable On Foot Along A 13 Kms Long Well Laid Footpath. Every Year, More Than 4.5 Million Pilgrims Pass Through Katra On Their Way To The Holy Shrine. The Cave Shrine Of Mata Vasihnodeviji Or Trikuta Bhagwati (alt: 5,200 Ft.) Has Been A Beacon Of Faith And Fulfilment To Millions Of Devotees From All Over The World. The Pilgrimage To The Shrine Holds Great Significance For The Pilgrims. The Abode Of The Goddess Vaishno Devi Is In The Mountains Of Trikuta Hills. The Goddess Resides In A Beautiful Cave In The Form Of 3 'pindis' Namely, maha Kali, maha Laxmi And maha Sarawati. The Goddess Durga Is Said To Have Killed The Demon Bhairon Here. The Cave Is At An Elevation Of 1,700m (5,100ft) And Is 30m (93 Ft) Long And Just 1.5m (5ft) High.

Popularly known as Mata Rani, Vaishno Goddess is a manifestation of the Hindu Goddess Mahalakshmi. It is a Hindu temple situated at the Trikuta Mountains within the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is assumed that during the pooja and Aarti, Goddesses arrive at the Holy cave to pay their respect to Mata Rani. Devotees believe goddess herself calls the devotees to reach here.
