Manipur meaning “The Land of Gems”, situated in the North -Eastern part of India with capital in Imphal. Manipur is bordered by Nagaland to the North, Mizoram to the South- West, Assam to the West, and Mayanmar to the South and West. Previously it was Kingdom of Manipur which has joint India in 20th Century after its independence. The Meetai people are the most ancient people of the state, apart from them there lives Kukai and Naga community among the tribes. The main occupation of the people here is farming and forest based works. The geography of Manipur is consists of Forest, lakes, rivers, hills mountain valleys and flatlands. Nearly more than 60% of the land is covered by deep forest of Bamboo and teak. The deep forest of Manipur is the home of many endangered animal and birds. Manipur has very reach culture from ancient time, its cultural dance and music attracts many tourist in this state. Manipuri is the own dance form of the state and in recent time it is very popular and acceptable daNCE FORM OF India. Most of the Women in the state involved in the cultural dance and singing, also a huge part of the women are involve directly to the business . Manipur is involve in many games including wrestling and Polo.

    This festival held for five days and celebrated during December/January, usually performed on the 13th day of the Meitei month of Wakching as per the Meitei calendar. This festival is an important festival of the Kabui Nagas. At the beginning of the festival start with the omen taking ceremony on the first day and the rest of the days are associated with common feast, dances of old men and women and of boys and girls, presentation of farewell gifts etc.

Yaoshang Festival held during February – March for five days and participated by children to every aged people. This festival is Color Festival of Manipur because people use colors during the celebration. One of the major attraction of this festival is Thabal CHongba (Meaning : Dance in the Moonlight) ,where Boys and Girls dances in the moonlight by holding their hands.

Eromba is prepared by boiling a tonne of vegetables along with some fermented fish. It is mixed until the texture becomes like a paste. Finally, it is garnished with maroi and a sprinkle of coriander leaves.

    This is one of the favorite deserts of the Manipuris. Chak-hao Kheer is a delicious kheer that is prepared on many special occasions in Manipur. It is a pleasing shade of purple and is made using rice, milk and cardamom powder. It is generally garnished with dried fruits like raisins or other nuts. The flavour of this kheer is delicious.
