Puning Hot Spring

tour_1.jpg

Puning Hot Spring is a wellness and spa facility that was developed to match the surrounding landscape. Specifically, the design is that of the Aeta lineage - the first tribal people of the Philippines. Puning happens to be where the Aetas Village and natives reside nearby. You will often see them in the area and if you have time you can catch one of their cultural performances.

The resorts facilities are divided into 3 areas – the first area, where you will be received, is known as the base camp. The second area, 2nd Station, is where they have their Hot Sand facility. Lastly, the third area, 3rd Station, is where the hot spring pools are located.

In order to get to the facility, you will take a drive (or arrange transportation) to go past Sapang Bato gate on Clark Freeport. Puning is located at 1st Station, Sitio Target, Sapang Bato, Angeles City – although it is listed as Porac it butts up against Angeles.

Upon reaching the resort’s camp, you will be offered a lunch buffet before your hot spring experience. Should you use to eat after the hot springs, that too is acceptable. Once the adventure is underway, you will ride in a 4x4 around the rocky river bed, going past several stretches of lahar fields, and through the mountains.

From the base camp, it is a further 10 or 20 minutes to reach 2nd or 3rd station respectively. Most people are encouraged to go directly to 3rd station where you exit the vehicle and traverse by foot to one of their 11 pools. After a much-needed soak, you would return to 2nd station where you will be buried from neck to toe in hot sand. The custom heating system will help your circulation and may even relieve some joint pain, while you relax for anywhere between 15-30 minutes. After this is complete, you will be given the opportunity to be covered in mud from the erupted Mt Pinatubo lahar. The mudpack is said to help with allergies, and promote healthy skin.
