Akaroa at a Glance

Akaroa is a small town on Banks Peninsula in the Cantebury region of the South Island of New Zealand. It is the site of New Zealand’s first French settlement and an ideal spot to set the scene for love where one can stroll along the provincial harbour, where dolphins, penguins, and seals bob and chatter in the sparkling ice-blue water. Akaroa is the only place in the world you can experience dolphin swimming with the world’s rarest and smallest Hector’s dolphin. It is also the oldest town in Canterbury.
