Nelson at a Glance

Nelson is a city on the eastern shores of Tasman Bay, and is the economic and cultural centre of the Nelson region. Established in 1841, it is the second-oldest settled city in New Zealand and the oldest in the South Island which was proclaimed a city by royal charter in 1858. Nelson city is bordered to the west and south-west by the Tasman District Council and the north-east, east and south-east by the Marlborough District Council. Nelson is ranked as New Zealand's 9th largest urban area by population.

Christ Church Cathedral

This Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral in upper Trafalgar Street, Nelson, New Zealand with seating for 350 people. It is 58 metres in length and 27 metres wide. The tower is 35 metres high.

The World of Wearable Art and Classic Cars Museum

It is a museum devoted to wearable art and classic cars located in Nelson, New Zealand, opened in October 2001 and is a tourist attraction. The WOW Gallery shows the attending garments of the World of Wearable Art Awards Show, a two-hour performance spectacle held annually in Wellington during September.

Kahurangi National Park

This park is a national park in the northwest of the South Island of New Zealand. It is the second largest of New Zealand's fourteen national parks and was formed from the North-west Nelson Forest Park. Kahurangi Point, regarded as the boundary between the West Coast and Tasman Regions, is located in the park.

Mount Owen

Mount Owen is in the Tasman district of the South Island of New Zealand. It stands at 1875 metres above sea level and is part of the Marino Mountains. There are a number of caves in the marble karst areas on the flanks of the mountain, including New Zealand's longest cave system, Bulmer Cavern, which runs for 64 kilometres. Mount Owen lies within Kahurangi National Park.

Abel Tasman National Park

It is located between Golden Bay and Tasman Bay at the north end of the South Island. The Abel Tasman Coast Track is a walker’s paradise which suits most ages. The Falls River Bridge is an impressive 47 m suspension bridge which crosses the Falls River. Sea kayaking allows you to access some of the remote sheltered coves and see many things that can’t be experienced any other way. It is a great place to go and view wild life, especially the seals.
