Undefeated Iron Fort (Lohagarh Fort)

Lohagarh Fort (Iron fort) is situated at Bharatpur in Rajasthan, India known as Easter Gateway of Rajasthan. Situated at a distance of approximately 188 Kilometres from Jaipur. The fort was built by Maharaja Suraj Mal. Due to its impenetrable architecture it is known as Lohagarh fort (Iron fort ). Knowing as the strongest Fort in Indian history , it is constructed with various metals giving the name of Iron fort or Loh Durg.

One of the finest architecture in Rajasthan, the Lohagarh fort or Iron Fort derives its name from the fact that it is one of the strongest castle ever made in history and could never be conquered, not even during the British rule. During a war , the British tried to seige the fort four times but always suffered a defeat. Ashtadhatu Gate is the main entrance to the fort. The spikes of the gate were made up of eight metals that's why the gate is called ashtadhatu or eight metal gate.

As it's surrounded by a moat (artificial lake ), which was used to be filled by water to ward off enemy attacks. The walls of the main building of the fort has the height of 100 feet and width of of 360 feet.The interior portion of Fort was not affected by the firing of cannons. Interesting thing about the fort is that there is not a fraction of iron anywhere in it.

A well maintained fort shocases the amazing bow and arrow, shields, knifes, bullets and other things used during the battles. The most stupendous thing of the fort is having 360degree view of Bharatpur from top of the fort.It's a great place to visit to see to appreciate the historic statues and architecture. Its well kept and gives a glimpse of the architecture brilliance and grandeur.
