Taman Negara Rainforest at a Glance

Taman Negara in Malaysia is considered as one of the oldest rainforests in the entire world. Its rich jungles cover a swath that encompasses over 2500 square miles and extends across three states. Within its impenetrable depths is an ecosystem comprised of ancient trees, massive root systems, exotic orchids and lush ferns that are buzzing with a world of animals. Taman Negara is famous for jungle treks, fishing and boat trips along virgin jungle rivers where you can picnic and swim. The forest is a mere 3 miles from Malaysia’s largest city, Kuala Lumpur, and boasts Sumatran rhinos, tigers, as well as 14,000 plant species and more than 300 species of birds.

It takes around 3 hours from Kuala Lumpur to reach the entrance of the Park at Kuala Tahan by road. If you go by road, the distance is around 240kms.

Boats are available which operates from Kuala Lumpur Jetty to the entrance of Taman Negara.

Canopy Walk

The 45 meters high and 510 meters long walkway is the longest canopy walk in the world. You can view the rich and diverse flora and fauna from the very summit of the forest. Guides ensure that only about 4 or 5 people are on the walkway at a time and everyone is spaced about 5 meters apart for safety reasons. You should experience this if you are at Taman Negara rainforest.

Rapid Shooting

Experience an exhilarating ride that faces seven rapids along Tembeling River. In a wooden boat you can ride upstream to Trenggan River, shooting the rapids. Get wet and enjoy the wild river flowing through the dense forest.

Cave exploration

Jungle Trekking
