Tangalooma at a Glance

Tangalooma is located on Moreton Island, approximately 40 kilometres off the coast of Brisbane. It lies on the eastern shore of Moreton Bay and is known for its resort accommodation, dolphin-feeding program, sand dunes and wreck diving. Every year, thousands of visitors flock to the shores of Moreton Island for the rare opportunity to hand feed the majestic marine mammals, bottlenose dolphins. The island is home to the highest coastal sand dune in the world, Mount Tempest and the Tangalooma Wrecks are an amazing man-made wreck to dive and snorkel. If you visit Tangalooma during the annual whale migration season from June to October, you can experience these gentle giants up close from luxury catamarans.

Dolphin Feeding

Moreton Bay is home to approximately 600 bottlenose dolphins and each evening as the sun begins to set across the water, a small pod makes their way to the shores of Tangalooma Island Resort. The jetty at Tangalooma is the perfect platform for viewing and observing these wild dolphins as they continuously entertain all with their inquisitive antics. You can go into the water to feed these playful creatures and have an amazing life time experience.

Moreton Island Wrecks

The Moreton Island wrecks are a well-known landmark that you must not miss when holidaying on Moreton Island, as the splendid beauty of nature and mystery of history await discovery there. The depth of the dive site at the wrecks is between 2-10 m with a visibility of 8 m. The amazing visibility of the crystal-clear waters ensures a great view of the surroundings and the fishes when you are snorkelling or diving at the site. The ship wrecks houses a variety of sea creatures like tropical fishes, Kingfish, yellowtail etc. which you can discover on your own.

Whale watching
