Several major carriers operate out of the Brussels Airport, including the local Brussels Airlines, which is owned by Lufthansa. Emirates, Lufthansa, Jet Airways, Etihad etc. operates flights from India to Brussels with stop overs.
Brussels has three main train stations - Midi-Zuid, to the south of the city core, Central-Centraal, which is right next to the city center, and Nord-Noord, to the north of the city center. Thalys, Fyra, Eurostar etc. serves Brussels with regular trains.
The historic heart of Brussels is indisputably one of Europe's finest city squares and a bustling place around the clock. Upon entering the square, you can't fail to be impressed by the elegant guild houses that surround it, most of them dating from the 18th century and built in traditional Flemish style.
The fountain can be found on the corner of Rue de l'Etuve and Stoofstraat. Manneken Pis is a landmark small bronze sculpture in Brussels, depicting a naked little boy urinating into a fountain's basin. The statue is regularly dressed in costumes, many of which have been presented by visiting heads of state.
The Atomium is one of the 20th century's most celebrated tourist attractions. Built in 1958 for Brussels's World Fair, it celebrates humanity's mastery of the molecules that make up our world. At 102m in height, it is some 165 billion times the size of the atomic lattice of iron crystals that it represents. Inside the structure, you will find exhibitions, discovery centres and one of the world's fastest elevators.
Brussels has one of the oldest shopping arcades in the world and a variety of others. Unlike ordinary shopping malls, galleries or arcades offer high quality brands and luxury items. They are normally set inside old buildings, great for escaping the rain and shine to shop at leisure. Galeries St Hubert, Galeries Agora etc. are some notable shopping malls.
Luxury brands and boutique shops can be found on Brusselâs two renowned shopping streets â Boulevard de Waterloo and Rue Antoine Dansaert. The regular shopping street is called Rue Neuve, a pedestrian street with a large selection of shops and a large shopping mall called City2.
To all local Brussels people, Brussels markets are the place to be any day of the week. There are hundreds of open markets operating throughout the week in small squares all over the city. They usually serves fresh vegetables, handmade cheese, freshly chopped meat and knick-knacks for the home.
