There is a regular ferryboat service from the port of Piraeus to Chania. Ships depart every evening around 8.00 or 8.30 and arrive very early morning. The ships are quite modern, cheaper than flying and can be quite romantic.

Nautical Museum

The Nautical Museum of Crete is a museum in Chania, Greece. Its collection includes models of ships, nautical instruments, painting, historical photographs and war relics. The two-storey building is divided into 13 units, spanning antiquity to the Battle of Crete. Various ancient shipwrecks, findings of Bronze Age to Roman times etc. are displayed here.

Chania Archaeological Museum

It is housed in the katholikon of the Venetian monastery of St. Francis. During the period of the Turkish occupation it was the Muslim mosque of Yussuf Pasha, while in modern times it was used as a cinema or a storehouse for military equipment. Since 1963 it has been functioning as the Archaeological Museum of the city.
