Ferry service operates from either the port of Pireaus or Rafina. The trip from Pireaus to Santorini takes 4.5hrs with a high speed ferry.
In a traditional boat, you can reach the islands of the Caldera which is just 10 minutes far. A walk of about 20 minutes will take you to the top of the volcano where you will see still smoking craters and breathe an intense smell of sulphur. The tour will continue by boat to the island of Nea Kameni to continue to Palea Kameni, for the Hot Springs. The boat will stop in the small bay of Agios Nikolaos. With a ladder you can dive in the water and swim for about 30 meters until you reach the famous thermal spas of Palaia Kameni, where the water temperature ranges from 30 to 35 degrees Celsius as it mixes continuously with the normal sea currents.
Thirassia, although exactly opposite the Santorini caldera, is a complete contrast from Santorini. Quiet and undeveloped, it is almost untouched by tourism. The island of Thirassia comes under the jurisdiction of the Community of Oia. Narrow pathways, colourfully painted blue, yellow, green bell towers and houses makes the place unique and beautiful. Most of the homes are cave house styled, built into the rock. Agrilia is the largest and oldest village, a picturesque village with cave houses and wine canvas.

Most of Santoriniâs beaches are composed of dark volcanic sand that gets too hot in the mid-day sun. The most upscale and touristy beach is the Kamari Beach. The path along the beach is a fun and relaxing place to stroll in the evening. The pebbly sand of the red beach is reddish in colour and the backdrop is stunning. Perissa and Perivolos Beaches are essentially one very long beach that caters to the backpacker crowd and party scene but still has a wide range of accommodations and restaurants.

The Lama Wine Shop, established in 1989, is located on the main road to Oia. Visitors who come to Santorini every year get to taste some of the local wines and fall in love with them so much so that they like to order them after they return to their home countries. shops organize free wine tasting once a week and they offer eight different wines for tasting.
