Westport at a Glance

Westport is the third largest town in Mayo. The town of Westport is located in the West of Ireland and can be accessed by road, rail, bike, sea and nearby Ireland West Airport. The site of the town offers visitors an opportunity to experience a well maintained urban setting on the banks of the beautiful Carrabawn River in addition to a bustling Quay area on the shores of Clew Bay. The current town centre was originally designed by James Wyatt in 1780, in the Georgian architectural style. Its layout follows the medieval principles of urban design introduced by the Normans in the 13th century.
