An airport serving domestic and a couple of international flights can be found in Bursa. In order to get to Bursa from most countries by plane, you will have to take a transit flight via one of Turkey's international airports.
The Old Silk Market in Bursa may not be the heart of Turkeyâs silk trade anymore, but itâs certainly kept its charm, and itâs one of the most visited sites in Bursa. Nearly all silk would at some point pass through the Old Silk Market in Bursa which was home to dozens of caravanserais known as Hans. Most tourists on the other hand climb the spectacular flight of stairs to tour the upper floor gallery and its many shops that sell every sort of silk product imaginable.
In the old city centre of Bursa, just next to the Bursa City Museum, is the Bursa Ulu Camii or the Bursa Great Mosque, a large rectangular structure with twenty domes. It is the largest mosque in the city of Bursa and its twenty domes were supposedly built to represent the twenty mosques. Having approximately 2 meters wall thickness, the breath taking structure covers the inside field of the mosque. It has a roomy and spacious serving area for five thousand people.
Uludag is the highest mountain of northwestern Turkey. Uludag was one of the twenty-odd mountains around the eastern half of Mediterranean basin that used to be called Olympos in ancient times. In medieval times, Uludag served as a hermitage to Christian monks. It is a popular center for winter sports such as skiing, and a national park of rich flora and fauna. Summer activities, such as trekking, camping archery, also are popular.
Cumalikizik is a village in the Yildirim district of Bursa Province, located 10 kilometres east of the city of Bursa, at the foot of Mount Uludag. Its history goes back to the Ottoman Empire's foundation period. This is one of the best preserved Ottoman villages in Turkey with scores of picturesque houses built in the traditional style.
Silk is the strong point in many shops. Silk was Bursa's prime cloth trade for centuries, and although much of the silk now on sale comes from elsewhere, the variety and selection are still impressive. The silk market is in a beautiful building built around a courtyard with shops and cafes on the ground floor and the silk market on the first floor.
The Koza Han is an old caravan serial: a nice place to shop or to have a tea or coffee in the centre of the building, shaded by old trees. It is 'the other end' of the great silk route to or from China. Friendly, english speaking staffs and nice collection of silk and cotton shawls are something you can expect here.
