The 24-hr EceabatâCanakkale ferry line, with hourly intervals during most of the day and night, is likely to be the most convenient choice to get to the city from European mainland.
Canakkale is linked to north, east, and south by well-paved highways. As there is no bridge crossing the Straits of Dardanelles yet, you will have to take either GeliboluâLapseki, GeliboluâCardak, EceabatâCanakkale or KilitbahirâCanakkale ferry crossings when arriving from north.
Troy is an ancient city located in northwestern Turkey. Roadside farm stands sell jars of local olives, olive oil, and honey. One can also find jars of local olives and olive oil filling the shelves of local gasoline or petrol stations.
Canakkale ceramics gained popularity in 18th and 19th centuries, and benefiting from the cityâs geographical location on the water passage of all commercial and naval ships, became widely known as souvenirs and gift articles. Plates, bowls, jugs, pitchers and vases of different designs can be found.
