Kusadasi at a Glance

Kusadasi is a resort town on Turkey's Aegean coast. It is one of Turkey's principle holiday resorts and offers an excellent environment for an unforgettable holiday. Situated on the west coast of Turkey- 90km south of Izmir, Kusadasi, is reputed for one of the most attractive city of the Aegean, as it is close to the important historical sites including Ephesus, Didyma, Priene, Miletos-the principals of ancient times, and ideal for sightseers. There are 2 major international airports near Kusadasi. The first one is Izmir International Airport which is 80 kms away from Kusadasi and the other one is Bodrum Airport which is 130 km from Kusadasi. There are different ways to reach Kusadasi from those airports. Taking a private transfer or hiring a cab are two options.

Adaland

Ladies Beach

The name derived from the time the beach was segregated for female bathers only but now it is open to all. It is one of the most popular beaches in the area, not only because of it’s excellent position close to the centre of Kusadasi, but also because of the clean, shallow waters, 1km of sandy beach and facilities available such as water sports, changing rooms, umbrellas, sun beds, and toilets.

House of the Virgin Mary

The house of Virgin Mary is a typical Roman architectural example, entirely made of stones. It is the place where Mary may have spent her last days. Mary preferred this remote place rather than living in crowded place. Today, only the central part and a room on the right of the altar are open to visitors. From there one can understand that this building looks more like a church than a house.

Pamukkale

Pamukkale is Turkey's foremost mineral-bath spa because of its natural beauty. Hot calcium-laden waters spring from the earth and cascade over a cliff. As they cool they form dramatic travertines of hard, brilliantly white calcium that form pools. Pamukkale is one of Turkey’s top attractions and a precious in the world with its cotton-look terraces.

Grand Bazaar

This is a massive collection of shops in a small area selling things like souvenirs, carpets, jewellery, clothes and leather. These shops are open in the summer season from 9 in the morning till 12am at night. Its a 5 minute walk from the port and therefore the prices go up when there are cruise ships in the docks, which in the summer season is almost everyday.

Kusadasi offers shopaholics numerous fascinating markets throughout the week. The Tuesday and Friday markets are the best bet if you are looking to shop for vegetables, meats, spices, fish and fruits. For fashion addicts there is the busy Wednesday market which happens to be a paradise if you are scouting for value-for-money clothes, bags, fake designer labels and more. For a weekend shopping bonanza, head to the Selcuk Market, a popular market held every Saturday.

The Orient Bazaar is yet another traditional shopping centre in Kusadasi definitely worth visiting. Located in the open, just next to the Grand Bazaar, tourists can shop for a plethora of goods and items here including clothes, shoes, hats, bags, watches, sunglasses, food, gifts and more.
