Wat Rong Khun

Wat Rong Khun, well-known as the White Temple, is an unconventional Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai, designed in 1997 by noted Thai painter-turned-architect Chalermchai Kositpipat. Wat Rong Khun is a unique temple that stands out through the white colour and the use of pieces of glass in the plaster sparkling in the sun.

Wat Phar That do chom Thong

The Wat Phra That Doi Chom Thong is a temple built in the mountain city of Doi Chom Thong. In 1260, King Mengrai is said to have visited, viewed the surrounding area, and pronounced it suitable for the establishment of a city. Wat Phra That Doi Chom Thong has fine views of nearby hills and its chedi towers above the surrounding trees.

It is one of the most beautiful places in northern part of Thailand. Phu Chi Fa is a viewpoint at the top of the highest peak in Thoeng district, 1,628 meters above sea level. On the top of Phu Chi Fa, one can watch the sunrise over the ocean of clouds, and during the day you will be able to see Northern Laos, Northern Thailand and Mekong River.

The Naval City Pillar

Most of the cities in Thailand have a 'city pillar', which is situated in a spot that is considered to be the heart of the city. The main pillar is set on a marble pedestal and slightly bigger than the rest is surrounded by 108 satellite pillars which occupy the six-tiered concentric circles that radiate around it, representing the six lower levels of heaven.

Chiang Rai Night Bazaar is located in the city of Chiang Rai on Prasopsuk Phaholyothin Road and adjacent to the bus station. This is a small scale market but a decent place to find an assortment of handicrafts. This bazaar has a variety of crafts, carpets, curtains, scarves, silk, bags and jewellery.

Saturday Night Walking Street

Every Saturday evening, the 1.5-km stretch of Thanalai Road comes to life with shopping stalls, food carts, live folk music and an atmosphere of festivity. The road remains closed for all vehicles so that visitors can safely walk and enjoy. It is a location well known as Saturday market or Chiangrai walking street.
