Abu Dhabi at a Glance

Abu Dhabi is one of the most modern cities in the world. It is the centre of government and business life in the UAE, headquarters of the emirates oil operating companies and embassies are based here. Abu Dhabi's oil wealth has been wisely utilized to encourage a healthy trade and commerce atmosphere apart from oil industries too. Abu Dhabi was also the first emirate to export oil from the Umm Shaif offshore field in 1962. On the land, it stretches south to the oases of Liwa where some of the world’s largest sand dunes can be found, and east to the ancient oasis of Al Ain. This makes Abu Dhabi the largest as well as the most populated of all the emirates. The promotion of tourism and various tourism-related projects has elevated Abu Dhabi to a Singaporean status in the region. Abu Dhabi is the largest of the seven Emirates and the Federal capital of the UAE.

Abu Dhabi International Airport is the UAE's second busiest airport and the home base of Abu Dhabi's flag carrier Etihad. Various airlines have direct flights from India. Etihad and jet airways operate direct flights from Kolkata which takes around 5 hours to reach.

Ferrari World

Ferrari World is a Ferrari themed amusement park on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi is the largest indoor and the only Ferrari branded theme park in the world, with 20 Ferrari inspired rides and attractions. It officially opened on 4th November 2010. There is a collection of around 30 vintage and new-fangled Ferraris. It homes the world’s fastest roller coaster i.e. Formula Rossa, with a speed of 240 km ph. Some of the other major attractions are Tyre Twist, Cinema Maranello, Fiorano, GT Challenge, Galleria Ferrari and Speed of Magic.

This city is a perfect example of blend of east and west, with some of the most stunning architectures and glimpses of past. A trip to Abu Dhabi cannot be finished without visiting the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan Mosque, or the grand mosque. It is one of the largest mosques in the world. A travel through one of Abu Dhabi’s oldest buildings, Qasr al-Husn, built in the 18th century is considered a must. Another destination for travellers is the cornice with its white sand beach.

Yas Island

Yas Island is a man-made island located close to Sir Bani Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE. It can be reached by car, seaplane or boat. It’s the island with a multi-purpose leisure, shopping and entertainment centre at an estimated total cost of over $40 billion. Yas Island is home to the state-of-the-art Yas Marina Circuit. It’s a 30 minute drive from Abu dhabi.

Lulu Island

Lulu Island is a 1000 acre man-made structure started in 1988 and land reclamation was completed in 1992. For a time, it was closed to the public after much development was dropped. Fortunately, the government made some changes in the island and was opened to the public in 2007. The objective of the Lulu island development is to create a special world of experience, combining entertainment with the cultural, recreational and leisure elements and to offer amenities which include marinas, gardens, canals, botanical gardens, and children play zones and a variety of resort accommodations.

Yas Waterworld

Yas Waterworld offers 43 rides, slides and attractions. The Waterpark spreads across more than 15 hectares providing a full day’s entertainment with restaurants, shops and interactive games in addition to the many rides, slides, & attractions. It is located adjacent to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi on Yas Island.

Marina Mall is located along the breakwater on Corniche road, close to the Emirates Place hotel. It’s a unique selection of fashion, leisure and entertainment brands arranged over four levels. This mall features a 100 metre high viewing platform, an ice rink, a bowling alley, a Cineplex, musical fountains and hundreds of big name brands and stores. A true Abu Dhabi landmark, Marina Mall's many restaurants and coffee shops make it possible to spend a full day here.
