Xian at a Glance

Xian, the capital of Shaanxi Province, was called Chang'an in ancient times. It is situated in the central part of Weihe Plain. The city is bounded by the Weihe river in the north and the Qinling ranges in the south. As one of China's seven ancient national capitals, it served as the capital for 12 dynasties spanning more than 1,000 years. Xian therefore, has a great number of precious relics and historical sites. More than 4,000 historical sites and tombs have been excavated and over 120,000 historical relics remain unearthed. Xian is an important economic, cultural, industrial and educational centre of the central-northwest region, providing visitors with modern and convenient facilities.

Terracotta Army

The 6,000 life-size terracotta warriors and horses are acclaimed as the 'Eighth Wonder of the World'. Full day city tour

On this full day city tour visit the Forest of Stele Museum. It is a themed museum focusing on displays of stone steles, epigraphs and stone sculptures from past dynasties. Further, proceed to Shaanxi History Museum which is considered as the birth place of Chinese culture. Then move to Big Wild Goose Pagoda. It is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists. This Pagoda was added to the World Heritage List in 2014.

Qianling Mausoleum

Qiangling Mausoleum is a joint tomb of the third Tang emperor and his empress. Qiangling Mausoleum is the only Tang Tomb that has not been looted. The site covers an area of 2.3 square kilo meters and within this area stood 378 buildings that included the sacrifice hall, a pavilion, a hall of ministers and numerous corridors.

Bell Tower

The wooden tower is located in the centre of Xian and it is the place where the four main streets: West Street, East Street, North Street and South Street, are converged. The Bell tower is the largest and best preserved bell tower among the ones remained since ancient times. A fenced-in area around the tower is planted with grass and flowers. In early spring, the tender plum blossoms and bright new grass surrounding provides a harmonious contrast. The Bell Tower definitely deserves a visit on your trip to Xian.

Kai Yuan shopping mall

It is located in the center of Xian, in front of Bell Tower. It is one of the biggest malls in Xian, selling good commodities at reasonable prices.

Beiyuan Men

About 500 meters in length from south to north, the street can be reached through the archway under the Drum Tower. This street is paved with dark coloured stone and green trees. The buildings on both sides of the street are modelled in the styles of both the Ming and the Qing Dynasties.

Golden Eagle

Located in the Gaoxin District, Golden Eagle is one of the biggest shopping malls in Xian with a total floor area of 27,287 square meters. It has a good reputation and provides a wide variety of good quality clothes, electronics and jewellery.
