Hamilton Island is the only Whitsundays Island with its own commercial airport. There are direct flights onto the island daily from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Cairns with Jetstar, Virgin Blue and Qantas.

Whitehaven Beach is protected by the Whitsunday Islands National Park in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. It’s been voted the world’s top eco-friendly beach. It is just a thirty-minute trip on a high-speed catamaran. Explore the beach via a helicopter or seaplane from the island or sail to Whitehaven Beach on one of the island’s yachts. The crystal clear aqua waters and pristine silica sand of Whitehaven stretch over seven kilometres along Whitsunday Island.

Deep Water Turtle Discovery

Explore the beautiful, fringing reefs around Hamilton Island, and see a whole variety of marine life - including turtles, on a Deep Water Turtle Discovery tour. This easy snorkelling tour is recommended for both adults and children with appropriate swimming ability. The fringing reef offers an abundance of marine life - including tropical fish and colourful coral structures.

Bushwalking

Exploring Hamilton Island on foot can be a great way to explore its natural beauty. Discover secluded sandy coves, climb to the top of the island for stunning views, or enjoy a picnic in one of the island’s many picnic spots. The Passage Peak walk is a must. It is a hard work but the view at the top makes it all worth while.

Float plane tour to heart shaped reef

The Heart Reef is in fact one of many coral bommies that make up the Great Barrier Reef and is only 17 metres in diameter. It can only be seen aerially as from sea level it is just like any of the other bommies that neighbour it. The Heart Reef is an extremely popular icon amongst local and international travellers and is the site of many in - flight proposals.
