Sikkim accounts for the largest share of Cardamom production in India, and is the world's second largest producer of the spice after Guatemala. People of Lingchom and Geyzing in West Sikkim mainly cultivate large cardamom which is considered one of the most important spices in Sikkim. It is also the main source of income for the state. Cardamom is used as a spice in several preparations. It contains 2-3% essential oil and possesses medicinal properties as well.
