    Chinese cuisine includes styles originating from the diverse regions of China, as well as from other parts of the world. Styles and tastes also vary for class, region, and ethnic background. The food is stir-fried in the south and the dishes are spicier with thicker sauces in the centre. The north employs less rice - pancakes are often used as an alternative.     Dumplings consist of minced meat and chopped vegetables wrapped into a thin piece of dough skin. Popular fillings are mince pork, diced shrimp, ground chicken, beef, and vegetables. They can be cooked by boiling, steaming, or frying. Dumplings are a traditional dish eaten on Chinese New Year’s Eve.

    Wonton is a flour product made by stuffing and then steaming, boiling or frying. Wonton is thinner than dumpling in the wrapper which is transparent after being cooked. The stuffing of wonton is usually made of pork, shrimp meat, vegetables, shallot and ginger. There are many improved types of wonton with different ingredients and cooking styles, such as Sichuan hot and spicy wonton, Wuxi Sanxian wonton etc.
