The Kitchen of Sri Jagannath Temple, Puri, known as Rosaghara, holds the credit to be the largest kitchen in the world. The kitchen is located in the south-east direction of the temple and is 150 feet long. There are 32 rooms in total inside the kitchen where more than 250 earthen ovens are at service. The food is prepared by more than 600 cooks or Suaras and 400 assistants.
On a daily bases, the kitchen serves an average of 10,000 people with the food and Prasada. The number touches the mark of one to ten million during festivals and special puja days. That is why it is considered as the biggest kitchen in the world that serves such huge mass without any reservation and prior notice. It is believed that the kitchen never runs out of the food no matter how many people come to eat here.
